This is a wonderful article. I am in the UK where this issue of selling health stuff doesn't arise and I am SO THANKFUL nobody gets to profit, so far as I know, from human milk or illnesses here. But You are very brave, indomitable and hard working to have found out all that detail!

Dewi,

You are welcome, and thank you for the compliments. I worked very hard to write this article, spent many days, weeks, months behind-the-scenes making phone calls to various places researching and verifying my information. I'm really glad you got a lot out of it.

Alicia,
You could sign up with MilkShare (http://milkshare.birthingforlife.com/) and honestly tell the group how old the milk is. It's still likely someone will want it. For a case like this, it's probably better to do a local pick-up (you could meet in a park or other public place if you don't feel comfortable inviting them over to your house), so that the recipient isn't burdened with astronomical shipping charges for milk that might not be usable. However, there may be recipients that are so desperate and can't find anyone else to send them milk that they may want to pay for shipping for milk they know is old anyway.

HTH. :)

I'm really glad I read this. I have about 50 ounces of milk in the freezer that my son will never drink because it's expired, and I was planning to give it to The International Breast Milk Project. I had chosen them because they said they could take milk up to a year after it was pumped. Now I'm not so sure I want to give them my milk. Do you know of anything else I could do with milk that has been in the freezer too long?

This is a brilliant article.
I had heard about this corporation selling breastmilk and conducting for profit research but I did not know the details of what was really going on.
Thank you so much for your wonderful detailed article.
